Craigslist
Analysis of Craigslist
Before we started working on the project we analyzed the as-is state of Craigslist. We went through a normal flow of using Craigslist as a student to find new furniture for my apartment. We then analyzed the results and started to think about the pain points we encountered and how we could improve the experience. We also looked at the sign-up process and the different features of the website. In general, we noticed that the website was not only aesthetically outdated but it also was hard to find what you were looking for. After this analysis, we combined our findings.
As-Is Map
Our next step was to create an As-Is Map of the Craigslist website. We started by creating a list of all the different steps that a user would have to take to buy a sofa on Craigslist. We then created a diagram that showed all the emotions that the user would feel while going through the process. We also added 'thiking' and 'doing' aspects to the diagram to be more precise.
Lo-Fi Prototype
After getting a better understanding of the Craigslist website and its shortcomings we started to create a Lo-Fi prototype of the website. We started by sketching out the different screens of the website. We also created a paper prototype and tested it out on a few people. We analyzed the results and made changes to the prototype.
Our Final Prototype
The final prototype of our Craigslist redesign is the result of a lot of research and testing. We wanted to make the website more user friendly and more modern. We also wanted to make it easier for the user to navigate the website and find what they are looking for. For that we added different categories with icons and a search function that would help the user get to the right place quickly. The result is a better User Experience for the user and a more modern look for the website.
